Total Breathing
The word “total” itself shows that we are dealing with a method of breathing better than the above listed. The three advantages shown in the first methods are, in the total breathing, united.

The clavicular, intercostal and abdominal breathings are synthesized, and the maximum result is reached with the minimum of effort. It involves every intercostal muscle, every lung cell, the entire breathing apparatus. The diaphragm, extremely elastic, remains under the control of the will. The rib cage dilates to the maximum because the inferior ribs lower slightly), the upper rise considerably, and the intercostal muscles widen.

In total breathing it is not even necessary to re-fill completely the lungs at each inhalation. Just keep to the pattern of ordinary breathing. But, to stay in good health calls for a deep and total breathing 5 or 6 times a day.
