In the “Apostolic Creed” there is an expression which, at first sight, could seem to be unacceptable for an ordinary concrete mentality, but, if it is examined in the light of esotericism, that is, of integral Christianity and, therefore, of the doctrine of the “Guardian of the Threshold”, it becomes a great truth: “I believe.... in the resurrection of the flesh, the eternal life. Amen.”

 

This phrase - resurrection of the flesh - deserves all our attention because it deals with eschatology and the “body of resurrection”, that is, with the end of the world as a cosmic cycle and with the destiny of men. Here is not the place to quote the numerous works of the Fathers and the evangelical passages that bear witness to the revelation of the resurrection of all the bodies of the dead, good and bad, at the end of the times, to be judged by Jesus Christ and receive the eternal prize or the eternal punishment.

 

In the Old Testament the Revelation of this truth is progressive, but after the coming of Christ the phenomenon of the resurrection of the bodies , or the re-union, by divine virtue, of the inferior part of the human compound with the immortal soul(Ego ), is declared with precise words in Matthew, 22:23-32, Luke, 20:27, Acts, 4:1-2, Acts, 23:8.

 

Jesus also defines the properties and gifts of these bodies, in these terms: “At the resurrection.... there will be neither wives nor husbands, but you will be like angels of
God in heaven.”

 

In the mystery of the resurrection of the flesh, we are speaking of the bodies of resurrection, of the Guardians of the Threshold, and they are the same thing. The Ego of individuals will put on these subtle, elemental bodies when there will be the Final Judgment: bodies, which for the Initiates from on High will be beautiful, harmonious, lit by a glorious brightness, but deformed, horrendous, of a sinister, pathological brightness for the Ego surprised by death and resurrection while still in an insufficiently developed state, that of wickedness, of error and of darkness.

 

We have already explained what transformations will the ghost or future body of resurrection undergo on the part of the Ego that progresses towards the purification. We have already said that the “Guardian of the Threshold ” is a separate new subtle body, moldable in good or bad, according to the way of the Light or of the Darkness: a body that God allows every human being to make, with precise functions in the evolutive process, and destined to be the body of resurrection. This spectral figure is the abstract of the debit and credit book of the individual.

The “Guardian of the Threshold” of the Initiate becomes a body suitable for an angel of the Good, but in the hardened wicked it is a body suited to a demon. Hapless whoever, on the last day of the planet earth, finds himself with a “mad Guardian” as body of resurrection. For these the mentality, emotivity, thought, the will, can be nothing other than that of an unevolved, savage, bestial and demonic state.

 

Every Ego received the faculty to create, in its own image and likeness, another of itself, but we say again, “image and likeness”, and this is the archetype of the future body of resurrection, or the actual small “Guardian of the Threshold”. What we are revealing to you is a living part of the archeosophical Mysteries. Instead, the Ego is created in the image and likeness of God.

 

In a time long ago, in previous evolutive Cycles , we have already prepared the archetype of what was going to be the physical body. Now we are speaking about another body that will be used in the new Cycle, which will begin with the Last Judgment and the resurrection of the bodies.
