The creation of the world took place with the separation of Adam and Eve (or, if you prefer, of Shiva and Shakti). The duality of the separated Androgen penetrates the entire Universe, and every individual carries the imprint of this polarity of the masculine or solar principle and of the feminine or lunar principle.

 

The polarities verified by biology in the union of the two germinal cells - spermatozoon and ovule - refer to the dualism of which we are writing. This dualism of the creative manifestation is connected to the metaphysical conception of the Androgen, explained by the Judaic- Christian Kabbalah.

 

The Androgen, as we know, is the Cosmic Man who contains in himself the two principles of the Eternal Masculine and the Eternal Feminine. It is alluded to in the Bible and also spoken of in the esoteric Kabbalistic commentaries. The state of androgyny is explained by the Scriptures in the typical language of the Revelation (“He created them male and female” – Genesis, I,27).

In the Biblical myth the name Eve means “the life”, “the living”, “mother of the living”. For the Tradition, the separation of the woman-life from the so-called androgen is connected to the fall and ends with the exclusion of Adam from the Tree of Life so that he” would not become one of us (a God)” and” would not live forever” (Genesis, III,22).

 

We find the myth of the Biblical Androgen also in other traditions: ancient Egyptian, Phoenician, Chaldean, Persian etc. For example, in the Dialogues of Plato with the Symposium (189-193 BC) the great Greek esoteric Philosopher asserts that the healing of Humanity lies in the return to the state preceding the fall by means of the sublimated eros.

 

According to Plato a primordial race existed,” whose essence is now extinct”, a race of beings gifted with two principles, masculine and feminine. They were extraordinary for daring and strength, and in their hearts nourished the aspiration to attack even the gods. It is the old subject of the Titans and of the Giants; and is the theme of Prometheus, similar to the myth of Eden and of Adam who hands down the promise to “become like the gods”(Genesis,
III,5).

In Plato, the gods do not strike the androgens with lightening, as they did with the Titans and Giants, but split them in two, paralyzing the power, obsessing them with the desire to re-unite, to become once again a single being.

 

For Plato, the aspiration of the re-composition of the primordial state is given by the impulse of the eros. The myth of the Androgen also belongs to Vedic texts, to Tantrism, and in the esoteric traditions of India the Androgen is found again in Shiva-Shakti: God in his masculine and feminine aspect. But for us the Androgen is not God but Adam-Kadmon or Adam-Eve, because God is God, above everything and everyone: He is the creator of Adam himself.

 

The Universe, the phenomenal world, intended metaphysically and physically, are the creative imagination of the first thinker or creator of the world, that is, Adam possessed by longing. Before the manifestation there was only the Being-Consciousness-Beatitude, guardian of the metaphysical Eden, that is, Adam-Eve in the identity and unity with God through Grace. The Cosmic Spirit, in the sense of pure Consciousness, and its Power created by God in His image and likeness, were a single and unique supreme reality.

 

The waves of life came from the Androgen or Adam Kadmon, and with these began the birth of souls, substance of the same Androgen, according to the will of the Absolute: ”And God blessed them and said to them:- Be fruitful and multiply, replenish the earth and subjugate it.” (Genesis, I,28).

 

In the condition of rupture or fall, from the cosmic couple Adam-Eve were born the spirits contaminated by the disequilibrium of the original sin, therefore influenced by the demonical spiritual presence. These spirits were and are subject to the evolutive process whose goal is the return to the androgynous state set forth by the Christian Scriptures in which Jesus says: “In the Resurrection... all are like angels of God in Heaven”(Matthew,XXII,29).

 

The souls born before the fall are “Children of the Light”, those born after the Adamic fall are the “Errant Children”. These latter, when they descend into physical bodies, are anchored to them by a solid center of gravity which binds them to the species. We are speaking about that Cosmic Power which exercises its power on all the germinal cells though remaining itself, one and indivisible, transcendent and immanent. It is found in the paternal spermatozoa and is deposited as the principle of life in the nucleus of the ovule of the mother, in the sense of a power enveloped by vitality (the prâna of Yoga philosophies); a power which enters immediately into action and specifies the vital ether in the elements and principles, because from the maternal substance is produced the organization and the form of the new being, the baby.
